Lemming for Fashion21 Eyeshadow Sticks

I was originally planning to get Careline Glamour Eyes Eyeshadow Pencils. However, it seems like they are phasing them out. 3 out of the 3 malls that I've checked only have them in limited shades (like 2 shades) and their stocks will expire in like 6 months time. I think they were originally priced at PHP75 but were lowered to PHP45 since they will be expiring soon.

I was a bit saddened because I really want to try them out. I mean I really got nothing to lose because of the very affordable price. I didn't want to purchase NYX Jumbo Pencils from local resellers since I find them a bit overpriced/expensive for an e/s pencil. I was actually hoping the Careline ones would be great dupes.

But as I was scouring through cosmetic stands, I discovered another eyeshadow pencil line from a local brand. It is from Fashion21 and comes in a thinner pencil form. It is priced at PHP85. I just didn't check if you get the same amount of product as the Careline ones.

I swatched a couple of shades on my hand and they glide on creamy. The white one however has a pearly finish (I want a matte one for e/s base purposes). But I think I can get away with it. I really want a white, blue/teal, emerald, and gold/bronze shade if they have them. Before I leave for Australia, I might consider getting these.

Makeup I Cannot Leave Home Without

For some reason, I cannot leave the house without any makeup on (no matter how little or made up it may be). It's some kind of a confidence booster I guess. So here's a short list of what I can and cannot go without:

(1) Brow powder - I cannot leave the house without applying brow powder. I use Nichido Eyebrow Liner Duo Kit. My brows aren't naturally well-shaped. In addition, they tend to thin out towards the end. Although I don't groom them in a thin line (I go for somewhat full but not so bushy brows), I still need brow powder to add some definition.

(2) Eyeshadow - I love applying eyeshadow if I have enough time. But eyeshadows are not necessary for me, especially when I'm in a hurry.

(3) Eyeliner - Another makeup product that I cannot do without. My HG eyeliner is Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Towne Care (Black). I apply it using either Bare Escentual's Bent Liner Brush or Elianto Flat Liner Brush. I use the latter more often. I used to own an ELF Liquid Liner and I am pretty satisfied with it. I am now planning to get their Waterproof Eyeliner Pen which is more practical to use when on a hurry.

4) Mascara - I am not a mascara person. My mascaras are usually reserved for special occasion makeup (LOL). I just usually curl my lashes before I head out of the house. I have only 2 mascaras by the way (Clinique and Maybelline) which I am guessing are already clumping inside their tubes because of neglect and non-usage. Haha!

Fanny Serrano Mini Lash Curler

(5) Foundation - Just recently, I find foundation application necessary whenever I go somewhere. Earlier on in my makeup life (LOL), powder would be enough when I go out of the house. But I fell in love with the coverage that powder foundation gives. I sparingly apply it using my Bare Escentuals Handy Buki Brush when I don't have enough time.

(6) Powder - I think this is a no-brainer, for an oily-skinned girl like me, powder is my salvation. I apply my powder using a brush (either a mineral powder foundation brush or a mini buki brush).

(7) Concealer - A definite essential, however I'm still on the hunt for my HG concealer. I liked Avon's but I want to try mineral powder concealer next.

(8) Blush - Nah, not really an essential for me. The reason? I am acne-prone so the skin over my cheeks are somewhat red from post acne marks (but trust me, it's not that bad... well not as bad as it used to be back in high school and college, Haha!)

(9) Lipstick - Yes, definitely. I use an almost nude shade for day wear and a pink shade for night wear. Click here to see my lipsticks.

My NYX Lipsticks

I do not use/own the following cosmetic products so they are definitely not on my list of essentials:
(1) Lipliner
(2) Makeup base - I just simply use my Nivea Sunblock for this purpose.
(3) Eye makeup base
(4) Bronzer/Highlighter/Luminizer/Contouring Powder - I plan to get a bronzer soon though.
(5) Lipgloss - Yes ladies, I do not use lipgloss. I don't want to further emphasize my already thick lips (LOL).

So there you go, if and when I get better at applying makeup, I am sure to definitely add more essentials in my list. But for the time being, these are the makeups that I cannot leave home without. Till my next post lovelies! Xoxo!

Review: NYX Round Lipsticks

One thing you should know about me is that I don't buy too much of one stuff because:
(1) I know I won't be able to use/consume all of them.
(2) I don't want to waste money (no matter how little) on impulse buys.

Once I find products that work for me, I usually stick to them (And try my very best to be loyal, and not be tempted to try new stuffs, LOL). Hence, I only have 2 lipsticks in my entire makeup collection as of the moment.

my NYX lipsticks

These 2 lipsticks are from NYX. Here's what I like about these lippies:
(1) I find NYX Round Lipsticks very creamy (glides on easily even without a lip balm or lip primer).
(2) They are cheap at $3.50 each (regular price). Moreover, they sell for as low as $0.99 each when on sale at Cherry Culture.
(3) There is a very wide range of lovely shades (although NYX also has its share of out of this world, yucky colors! Haha!)
(4) Size is that of a typical full-sized lipstick (4g)

What I hate about them:
(1) NYX is not available locally. I bought mine from a multiply seller. She sells them for PHP 170 each.
(2) Even if there are local online NYX sellers, shade range is still limited. There is a very big chance of not getting all the shades you want from one seller.

Mars (left) and Fig (right)

The two round lipsticks that I got are MARS and FIG. I use MARS for everyday wear. It is somewhat a nude medium beige color which is perfect for day wear. I usually wear this shade with smoky looks.

On the other hand, FIG is a very pretty pink shade which is more suitable for night wear. I usually use this on special days/occasions or when my look just needs an extra oomph.

So there you go lovelies, I suggest you try NYX Round Lipsticks and see how it differs from other affordable lipsticks in our local makeup market. I would probably purchase other shades in the future but I am happy with these 2 right now. There are a couple of other online sellers carrying this line, all you have to do I search for the cheapest deal. Good luck! ^_^

Reasons for selling this lot:
1. I barely use colored eyeshadows (Does that make sense? Are there colorless eyeshadows? LOL) What I'm trying to say is I am not very much interested in experimenting with colors as of yet. I usually stick to neutrals (browns and blacks).
2. To make some extra money of course.
3. Most of the discount coupons from my Belle de Jour 2010 Power Planner are from establishments located in Metro Manila. I can only use like a quarter of the total 60 coupons that come free with the planner (FYI, I am from Pampanga).
